THE BAHIA E-BOOK

The rise in computing technology was supposed to lead to the end of paper and books. The BeB is not based on the same principles as conventional e-books as it is "a classical paper book" that also communicates with computer and PDA's, i.e. a large screen on which you read the contents of a book.

The idea behind the Bahia e-Book (BeB) is to preserve the pleasure of reading on paper whilst improving the interaction with the content through communicating paper and an interactive pen.

Our partner, Purple Eyes Ltd, has developed this unique technology enabling a computer or PDA to complement the written content of a book by displaying animation (photos, films, images, sketches…) encrypted in the Smart paper, on to the screen.

The BeB is based on the smart paper technology and its applications are infinite: education, tourism, cartography, transports.

For example, it can be used to complement educational content such as a book on dinosaurs. When the reader puts the pen on to a dinosaur, a short movie on the selected animal is displayed on screen.
